Stabjack is now playable in browser!


Hey all! 

Today we're releasing Stabjack Alpha version 0.37.12, and with it, a major step in making this Alpha release as exceptional as possible. Most importantly, this update brings you a Browser-based version of the game! In addition, there are major quality of life improvements, reworked and new animations, and an option which disables almost all of the story segments for those of you who just want to slam cards.

Please note that these are major changes, and that the Browser version has not been tested as thoroughly as the downloadable. We encourage you to report any bugs that you come across in the comments. It's quite likely that you will run into issues if you attempt to play Stabjack in low resolution. We hope that you play in fullscreen for the most enjoyable experience. 


Thanks to everyone for all of the feedback we've had so far! The morale we've had has been extremely high and we remain extremely excited as we continue development towards Stabjack's full release!

Features

  • Reworked animation system, with improvements across the board and new animations

Balance

  • Fake/Sap effects are now handled prior to incoming damage from Burning and Bleeding (when Bleeding takes effect at start of turn instead of end)
  • Changed Gun Holster to be Exotic Grade instead of Rare
  • Added 2 new Rare items

Quality of Life

  • Added clarity to Modify Card events, showing "Choose *up to* X cards" and having the selected amount shown visually on the Confirm button
  • Added text to top right menu buttons
  • Added Play/Skip Story popup selection when starting a new run in place of the Skip Story checkbox
  • Added Skip Story setting to options and Map (automatically enabled/disabled with new run popup)
  • Clarified Merge Cards event dialogue

  • Starting a run from the Tutorial now has its own button instead of the Play Tutorial checkbox
  • Added Skip Cinematic button to most capable cinematics when a profile exists (not first playthrough)
  • Added icon of Jack to current location on the map
  • Repositioned and rescaled enemies to better fit battle backgrounds
  • Added new Casino battle background

Fixes

  • Fixed various Dialogue and text sequences
  • Fixed multiple button click sounds playing when skipping dialogue
  • Fixed continue button not playing sound effect
  • Fixed not being able to click through the Saving Logo if something is behind it
  • Fixed scenarios where animations may not play correctly
  • Fixed First Aid Kit not removing some cases of self-inflicted debuffs on the same turn
  • Fixed an item showing up in the Codex when it wasn't accessible
